Contoura vision

Contoura Vision TopoGuided LASIK is a new technology developed to enhance the benefits that come from LASIK (Standard LASIK/ Femto-LASIK). It corrects vision based on corneal topography (corneal curvature maps) and also topolyser, contrast to an improvement in vision during the standard LASIK procedure that is dependent on prescriptions for contact lenses.

What is it that makes Contoura Vision so unique?

Corneal topography and Topolyser is able to capture the smallest of irregularities within the cornea’s curvature. It measures 22000 points in comparison to the current wavefront-guided LASIK that is able to measure around 200 points. The measurements are then merged with the prescription of the patient’s glasses and a customized treatment plan is created and programed to the laser.

What does it do?

Because Contoura Vision combines refractive prescription with corneal topography maps, it gives better quality vision for patients. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) findings show that patients who took advantage of this procedure experienced a significant improvement in their vision and could see better without the use of corrective lenses. According to clinical trial data, nearly 95% of those after surgery were able to see as well or better without glasses than they had with contact lenses.
  • Particularly suitable for patients suffering from Astigmatism > 1D
  • The difficulty is lessened at night. driving
  • More sensitive to light and less glare
  • Vision with better quality

What is the process?

Preparation

A thorough preoperative screening is performed by a clinical exam as well as corneal topography (Pentacam) to determine the safety and eligibility of the procedure for the patient. If retinal lesions (like holes, thinning, or tear) are discovered in the examination then they are treated with barrage lasers and LASIK can be performed after a period of 1 to four weeks.

The morning of the process

The day before the surgery patients’ topographic pictures are taken with a topolyser. The same is then transferred onto the planning system for the procedure in order to create the treatment plan that is customized. Contoura Vision Femto-LASIK procedure is performed using WaveLight Refractive Suite, the most efficient laser worldwide. An extremely thin corneal flap made by using the Bladeless Femtosecond method with the FS 200 laser. Topoguided laser ablation to treat refractive correction is carried out on the EX500 laser.

Following the process

The patient is able to leave the hospital within 30 minutes following the procedure. The eye drops prescribed are to avoid infection and aid in recovery. The patient will be evaluated one day following the procedure, and again one week and one month later.
